PPM is excited to collaborate with the Detroit Professional Photographers Association (DPPA) and photographer John Sobczak for an afternoon dedicated to the art of photographing dancers!

Have you wanted to learn more about Dance photography and the best techniques to capture dance photos? Or perhaps you would like to try something new?

Come join us on Sept 12 from 1-3pm.

Bio

For the past forty-plus years, John has photographed the many interesting and influential people of our time. In addition to his collaborations with dancers, John has photographed athletes, actors, and other notable individuals including Muhammad Ali, Jeff Daniels, and John Lee Hooker. They and many more have been featured in his many books, exhibits, and award-winning projects. His work is in the permanent collections of the Detroit Institute of Arts and The Cleveland Museum of Art, and other public and private collections.

Saturday, September 19.

Learn tips and techniques for finding unique angles, interesting details, and striking compositions—all while capturing some incredible photos along the way!

Come walk, explore, and see architecture in a whole new way.

This is open to all creatives and there is no cost to attend.

Where to Meet- at the Drury Inn, Grand Rapids at 3pm.

Attendees will be carpooling for ease in parking.

After the Photo walk-we will meet at a local restaurant for drinks and food!

FEATURING Carly Sullens

This workshop is for photographers who want to create images that feel more personal and intentional. Through guided exercises and demonstrations, participants learn how to begin with what they want to express, then translate it into stronger creative choices, from subject and composition to light, mood, and post-processing. This program helps photographers move beyond automatic habits, and beyond technical perfection as the main goal, into image-making rooted in authenticity and meaning. Attendees leave with a repeatable process they can return to, and clearer direction for creating work that feels true to them. This isn’t about getting it “right.” It’s about getting it real, and making images that feel purposeful, personal, and undeniably yours.
